All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary Jayalalithaa has slammed Chief Minister Karunanidhi's decision to convert the old secretariat at Fort St. George into a library.

Ms. Jayalalithaa said this decision was announced soon after her declaration during her party's executive committee meeting that the AIADMK would come back to power in Fort St. George by May 27 next year. Following Mr. Karunanidhi's order, the Tamil Development, Religious Endowments and Information department passed a GO to this effect on June 2. This was an indication that Mr. Karunanidhi was nervous about the outcome of the elections, she said in a press release.
