Ambedkar award for Karunanidhi

Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi will be given Ambedkar Sudar award instituted by the Viduthalai Chiruthaikal Katchi (VCK) for his contribution to the socio-economic development of the Dalits through various schemes.

VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan who met the Chief Minister at his Gopalapuram residence on Friday said he had agreed to receive the award. The award will be given at a function on April 14, the birth anniversary of Ambedkar.

A VCK release said besides waiving loans released to the Dalits through TAHDCO, the Chief Minister also had announced a housing scheme for them.

The State government has also relaxed the age limit for Dalits for recruitment of police sub-inspectors.
