Kannur airport work to begin this year

The work on the Kannur airport will begin this year itself, Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has said here after the first meeting of the reconstituted director board of the airport. He added that a consultant would be appointed for preparing the plan, design and estimate of the airport. The acquisition of 900 acres of land had been completed. The remaining land would also be acquired.

A meeting of heads of PSUs and cooperative institutions was being convened on June 23 to discuss mobilisation of capital for the project. The approved capital of the company would be Rs.1,000 crore. The government would provide a loan of Rs.10 crore.
