The bodies of eight of the total 48 passengers from this district on board the Air India Express flight that crashed in Mangalore were yet to be identified, keeping their bereaved families here in a state of agony.
According to official sources here, the bodies of the eight passengers were still unidentified. They are: Riju John from Padannakkad, Abdul Basheer Kallinkal Moidu from Pallikkara, Abdul Azeez Anjikkatta from Uppala, Umashan Vijayan from Keezhur Kadappuram, Lokesh Trikkanad Narayanan, Unchathur near Manjeswaram, Muhammad Basheer Herur from Bappayathodi near Uppala, Aboobacker Siddiqui from Chinamukhar and Sukumaran Kuzhiyam Kottichar from Mayilatti. Identifying the bodies was proving to be difficult as the bodies were charred beyond recognition adding to the distress of the bereaving family members.
District Collector Anand Singh visited the homes of the families in mourning. Mr. Singh has been in Mangalore since the accident on May 22.
According to the Control Room here, the number of passengers from the district who perished in the plane crash is 48 including five woman and five children. All the identified bodies of the passengers had been brought home and buried by late night on Sunday.
