All India Congress Committee general secretary Rahul Gandhi will visit Kalpetta on Monday to participate in a conference of Youth Congress delegates at the Krishna Gowder Hall at Puliyarmala here in connection with a membership campaign.
Party sources said Mr. Gandhi would reach a helipad at the SKMJ High School ground by a copter in the afternoon and be taken to the venue of the conference by car.
As many as 1,000 Youth Congress delegates, including tribal members, of the Lok Sabha constituencies in Wayanad, Malappuram, Manjeri, Kozhikode and Vadakara will participate.
The interactive session is scheduled for an hour. Security has been beefed up in the city and outskirts in view of Mr. Gandhi's visit. A team of Special Protection Group is guarding the helipad and the Krishna Gowder Hall. The security arrangements will be monitored by Neeraj Kumar Gupta, Superintendent of Police, Kozhikode (Rural).
A security rehearsal was done on Sunday and police personnel had been deployed at the hall, a senior police officer said. Around 200 police personnel would be deployed at various parts of the city.

Mr. Gandhi will visit Kasaragod on Monday morning for interacting with Youth Congress workers.
Mr. Gandhi will arrive in Kasaragod by helicopter on Monday morning from Mangalore. A helipad has been arranged at the Municipal Stadium in Kasaragod. Elaborate security arrangements had been made in view of the visit of Mr. Gandhi, the police said.
The Chinmaya Thejas Auditorium, where Mr. Gandhi will attend a closed-door interaction with the Youth Congress workers in the district, was put under surveillance by the district police and the Special Protection Group in charge of his security.
According to Congress sources, Mr. Gandhi was scheduled to land at Kasaragod at 10 a.m. and leave for Kalpetta in Wayanad at 11 a.m.
