The ninth annual conference of the Indian Society of Cerebrovascular Surgery (ISCVS) titled “NEUROVASCON 2009”, organised by the Department of Neurosurgery, Kasturba Medical College, was inaugurated here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, president of ISCVS V.S. Mehta said the field of neurosurgery was progressing rapidly, but awareness of neurological problems was low. The aim of the conference was to apprise members of the latest developments in the field of cerebrovascular surgery and about the best treatment options available. Owing to the vastness of the subject, there were different kinds of treatment that were being given. The society should form guidelines to treat particular diseases in a particular way, he said.
Chairman of “NEUROVASCON 2009” A. Raja welcomed the gathering. The former Director of the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bangalore, R.M. Varma inaugurated the conference. Secretary of “NEUROVASCON 2009” Muralidhar Pai K. proposed a vote of thanks.
