Two persons from the city – a 22-year-old student and a 30-year-old software engineer — were killed in separate incidents in the U.S. on Sunday.
The body of the student, Adarsh Johnson, pursuing MS at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at Belton, Texas, was found in a pool inside the campus. A native of Mallireddypally village at Tandur on the suburbs, Johnson was missing for the last three days. The body was later retrieved and shifted to the mortuary for an autopsy.
Johnson's parents – John Bosco and Jasantha – came to know about the incident around 6 a.m. The couple was to leave for the U.S. within a few days to attend Johnson's birthday in July first week. Their son had completed the required formalities for the visit and had also secured visas. Johnson's relatives said that unidentified assailants could have first murdered him before dumping the body in the pond. He was said to be also receiving threat calls. An office-bearer of the Students Welfare Association in the university, Johnson also won the best student award.
In a separate incident, a software engineer B. Jayanth Reddy riding a bike and returning home after watching a weekend football match died when he rammed a road median near his residence at Virginia on Sunday morning.
