This is good news. But I wonder for how long is this new beautification going to last. Everytime the government does this work and after few months we notice that due to poor maintenance this goes bad. My hometown is Chennai and I love it to be more beautiful. Rather than handing over the maintenance work to the Chennai Corporation, the government can institute a new State Parks Agency.At least there can't be a reason for this new agency to be overwhelmed since maintining these places will be their primary job.
it is nice to see the beautification of the world famous beach. it is the state machinery and people of the state who can ensure such a clean city. In my city Chandigarh which is also called City Beautiful each road is four to six laned and is as clean as it can ever be. it is not privatisation but sensitisation of the public to love ur city and keep it clean.
Marina is world's second largest beautiful seashore.Government can do the beautification and other infrastructure,but it is the duty of every citizen to maintain this and cooperate with the government actions.So,ultimately every one of us should take care and maintain the beauty of our Marina and make our city "SINGARA CHENNAI".

I am overwhelmed in joy to see the beautification of 'OUR MARINA. I feel proud to show this to my friends not belonging to Chennai. Tamil Nadu Government should not leave the job as it is. They should take continuous care and see what's going wrong after beautification. Corporation should play a vital role in maintaining the same for years together. Moreover it is in the hands of our beloved Chennai Public not to spoil the image of Marina again.
The whole slideshow is a photographic wonder taken with angles which really do not tell you the true story. I had been to this beach on the 25th of December 2009 and it was a picture of hell, with trash strewn around in the form of paper cups and paper trays. So much of public money has been spent & no one has thought of waste baskets. The fishermen use this area as a public lavatory and therefore it is hell to even go there. I wanted to upload some of my photographs here, but there does not seem to be a provision. But of course hat's off to this site's photographer.
