Balagopal Menon, a Std IX student of Vidyodaya School, Thevakkal, Kochi, won the best speaker award in the Students Nets Response Program 2009-2010 of the Yi National Summit. The topic was ‘Being world class in India, for India'. He had earlier won the Best Parliamentarian award. Vidyodaya School was ranked the fifth best Net at the summit.
The Yi Student Nets ensure the involvement of the young to work collectively for the wellbeing on the community, and in turn for the country's progress. Yi engages 3200 students from 51 nets across the nation. The members get a platform to express their views and ideas and contribute towards building a better India.
Bhavan's Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kochi, won the ever-rolling trophy for the Nandagopal Memorial All Kerala Interschool Painting Competition. Niza Kaladhar of the Our Lady of Mercy HSS, Aroor, won the Chitrakala Prathibha Award. The Vice Chancellor of the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, N. K Jayakumar was the chief guest at the prize-distribution ceremony.
