At the age of 72 M. Prakash Rao has had a new lease on life. The former advocate who had been suffering from asthma for the past 39 years decided to take matters into his own hands. “I read many medical journals and books related to the respiratory system,” says the energetic Prakash Rao. “And over the past eleven years I have formulated exercises and techniques to control respiratory ailments.”

He says that he is now symptom free due to the practise of the exercises he has come up with. Prakash Rao says, “I finally have 100 per cent relief from my asthma.”

The exercises are three fold: There are the nasal irrigation exercises (hydrotherapy); bronchial airways cleaning, which dislodges mucus by performing gravity assisted lobar positions; and physical, aerobic and yogic work outs.

Prakash Rao stresses that the methods he has put together are based on scientific principals. “If they were not based on science and medicine I would not have been chosen to present a paper on my finding at various medical conferences in the country.” He has presented his abstract, titled ‘Management of mucus related respiratory health problems through sinuses and airways cleaning exercises,' at a conference conducted at AIMS, New Delhi, and the Third International Conference on Health GIS in Hyderabad to name a few. He has also sent in his abstract to the World Allergy Organisation in the US. “If my paper is accepted I will be presenting a paper in Dubai,” says Prakash Rao.

“My aim is for people who are suffering from respiratory problems to be aware that there are methods to control their ailments,” says Prakash Rao. “Pill popping is not the only way.” He says by following the simple methods and techniques one can cleanse their sinuses and airways with absolutely no side- effects and get relief.
